The Genesee County BEA is pleased to announce the return of the Graduating Senior Job Fair, which will be taking place at the Batavia GVBOCES Campus on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 (9 AM - 2 PM) (please see attached flyer).  This event is a great opportunity for ALL seniors to meet with local companies looking to hire immediately after graduation.  Even seniors planning on attending college after graduation should attend, as all students can gain confidence speaking with employers and learn how to navigate a job fair.

Here are the important details for districts planning to attend the event on February 11:

  • Event Date:     Wednesday, February 11, 2026
  • Event Location: Batavia CTE Campus - 8250 State Street Road, Batavia, NY 14020
    • The Graduating Senior Job Fair will be held in the Building Trades & Electromechanical Trades classrooms.  Schools should enter the main entrance and register with the main office.

    • Vendor companies will be arriving shortly before 9 AM.  Districts are encouraged to bring their non-CTE students anytime between 9 AM - 2 PM (NOTE: business vendors will have a lunch break between 11 AM - 12:30 PM).  With bus driver shortages common in many districts, the BEA encourages districts to transport non-CTE students to the Graduating Senior Job Fair when transporting your CTE students to BOCES (AM or PM session).  The non-CTE senior students will likely need only 1 hour at the job fair before returning to campus.
  • NOTE: Any CTE students will likely attend the Graduating Senior Job Fair with their respective CTE program.
  • What to Wear/Bring
    • Students should plan on dressing professionally to the job fair - clean & tidy hair, dress shirt/slacks, dress, etc.
    • Students are encouraged to bring printed copies of their resume to the event.  There will be about 10-25 companies attending the event, so we recommend bringing several resume copies.

Run For the Acorns 5k & 10k

Address

East Bethany, NY 14054

Run for the ACORNS is an annual trail running event hosted by ACORNS, the nonprofit “friends-of-the-park” organization supporting Genesee County Parks through outdoor education, stewardship, and recreational programming. It features both a 5K Run/Walk and a 10K trail run, held on the scenic single- and double-track trails of Genesee County Park & Forest in East Bethany, NY. The course begins on asphalt before winding into the forest, following a creek and rolling hills with about 100 feet of elevation gain, and is clearly marked and well-maintained for safety. The 2025 race will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Registration fees are around $33.30, which include a long-sleeved technical race shirt if registered by the deadline, with prices increasing after late-registration in late September. Packet pickup is available the day before at DeWitt Recreation Area in Batavia and on race day morning at the park. Medals are awarded to the top overall male and female finishers in each event, as well as age-group winners, with recipients needing to be present to claim their awards. All proceeds benefit ACORNS and support its mission to enhance the Genesee County Parks through programs that connect people with nature.
